Xiaomi presents the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro devices

Xiaomi's new flagship series has just been announced: the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro! These two new devices run on Qualcomm's latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which promises to be 37 per cent faster than its predecessor, but also up to 49 per cent more fuel efficient. In addition, both devices have received quite a few upgrades in terms of cameras and also a nice new design. Currently, they are only available in China, but are expected to be released worldwide soon as well. Read more about these new devices here!

Xiaomi 13 Pro
Compared to the Xiaomi 12 Pro, the 13 Pro's screen has remained pretty much unchanged, both have a 6.73-inch screen and a refresh rate of 120Hz. However, the 13 Pro has a higher peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits and 1440p resolution. In terms of cameras, there is quite a change from its predecessor, as the Xiaomi 13 Pro has a triple 50-megapixel setup at the back with quite a few upgrades. The sensors are now combined with a lens from Leica with an aperture of f/1.9 and Hyper OIS. The telephoto camera has also received a big upgrade with 3x zoom range and a Leica "Floating Lens" element that gives you a very short focus distance of just 10 centimetres. Also, the battery of the 13 Pro is a bit bigger at 4820mAh, allowing you to use the device for a whole day without charging. 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging is also available. Other cool features include Dolby Atmos tuned stereo speakers that also have Dolby's new head-tracking feature, an IR blaster and (new for Xiaomi) IP86 certified dust and water protection. The device comes in four colours over the ceramic back: white, black, green and light blue. On the Xiaomi 13 Pro, the camera island on the back is square with oval corners.

Xiaomi 13
The screen of the Xiaomi 13 is slightly larger than its predecessor at 6.36" inches and has basically the same specs as the 12: a 1080 x 2400p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and an OLED panel that matches the 13 Pro's peak brightness. Also on the back of the Xiaomi 13, we see the Leica treatment at the cameras with a 50-megapixel main camera. In addition, the Xiaomi 13 has an ultra-wide-angle lens with 12 megapixels and a telephoto lens with 10 megapixels. You can also use a special Leica setting in the camera app to mimic the German camera brand's colour aesthetic! The 13's battery is also the same as its predecessor with 4500mAh capable of 67W fast charging or 50W wireless charging. Also, the Xiaomi 13 has Dolby Atmos stereo speakers with Dolby Head Tracking, an IR blaster and IP68 certification for water and dust. The 13 settles for standard glass on the back instead of ceramic and is available in black, light green, light blue, grey and white. In terms of camera island, the 13 looks identical to the 13 Pro, but has a glossy and flat side frame.

What do you think of these new devices from Xiaomi? A big improvement over the Xiaomi 12?
