Samsung working on record-breaking screen brightness and satellite communications for the Galaxy S23

Two pieces of interesting news about the Samsung Galaxy S23: in fact, it is in all likelihood going to break a record! For example, the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra is supposed to get the highest peak screen brightness ever. In addition, Samsung is said to be working with U.S. satellite company Iridium Communications to provide all S23 devices with satellite communications. Read more about these two new developments soon!

Highest screen brightness ever

In all likelihood, Samsung will announce the Galaxy S23 models in early 2023, including the S23 Ultra. As is tradition with Samsung, that is the most high-end device with the latest gadgets in technology. And one of those gadgets that Samsung is eager to differentiate itself with is the device's screen brightness. Thus, the S23 Ultra should get a maximum screen brightness of around 2200 nits.

Just for comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra currently has a peak brightness of 1750 nits. So the S23 Ultra may go about 25% over that. Currently, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the devices with the highest peak brightness of 2000 nits. Perhaps Samsung could not have this and are trying to surpass their major competitor in this way. In any case, very handy for when you want to do some reading on your screen in the full sun!

Satellite communication for the Galaxy S23

Other interesting news is that according to the South Korean ETNews, Samsung would like to make use of the 66 satellites of the American company Iridium Communications that fly in "low orbit" around the earth. According to ET News, it would then be possible to quickly send text messages and images with a lower file size. These rumors surfaced back in September after Apple announced the satellite communications feature for iPhone 14 models in the same month. Thus, Apple announced that iPhone 14 users will be able to send emergency messages via satellite, Emergency SOS, for free for two years starting in November. After those two years, users will have to start paying for the service. The feature will also come to a number of European countries in December; however, it is currently unknown when it will be launched in the Netherlands as well.

S23 release date

In all likelihood, Samsung will make the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra world famous in the first quarter of 2023. We are very curious about these new high-end Galaxy devices and what new technologies and gadgets they will have. And of course whether all the rumors are true. If so; then at least the Galaxy S23 Ultra is facing a bright future with such a bright screen!
