Official: Xiaomi postpones launch of the Xiaomi 13 at the last minute
The launch of the Mi 13 series, which was scheduled for December 1, has been postponed at the last minute. Xiaomi announced this via social media platform Weibo. Xiaomi did not give an exact reason for the postponement. However, the company hopes to come up with a new date soon when the Xiaomi 13 will still be launched. Xiaomi is said to announce other products besides the Mi 13 series on December 1. Quickly read more about why Xiaomi probably delayed it!
Reason for postponement
A blog post by Xiaomi on Weibo reads, "Dear users and friends, we regret to inform you that the launch of the new Mi 13 series has been postponed. We will notify you as soon as a new launch date is confirmed. Thank you for your understanding and support". A probable reason for the postponement is the severe spread of the coronavirus currently in China. This makes it very difficult to organize a large public event at the moment. The Xiaomi 13 is supposed to be the new flagship for 2023 and also the first smartphone with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Probably the delay will not affect the market in the Netherlands that much, as the devices will not go on sale in Europe until a later date. China always gets the scoop first, so that is where this news will be felt the most.
Violent protests and zero tolerance policy in China
There is a lot going on in China right now regarding the COVID-19 virus. For example, there are heavy protests because of the strict zero tolerance policy within the country. As a result, several factories and manufacturers are currently shut down and many unrests have broken out among employees and residents. However, of course, there could always be another reason due to the delay, but we simply cannot know.
Xiaomi 13 Pro
The company has been very busy promoting and hyping the 13 series in recent days. For example, the 13 series would officially be fully waterproof and the Xiaomi 13 Pro would feature a 1" inch large camera sensor. We also see multiple rumors and photos of the Xiaomi 13 Pro on Twitter where we see a back with three different colors. The back consists of one color and the finish looks glossy. What is striking is the large square camera island with the Leica logo. In fact, Xiaomi is working with the German brand for the cameras. In addition, for the first time, the Xiaomi 13 series will work with MIUI 14, Xiaomi's updated software fully adapted for Android 13. We also read in another Twitter post that the Pro device will get 8GB of RAM.
